Dog Breeder Website Design Project
Client: Shadewood Farm
Project Summary
Shadewood Farm is a successful dog breeding business that breeds and raises Border Collies. When they came to me for a dog breeder website design project, they already had a steady inflow of potential customers; however their website was confusing to potential new customers and wasn’t streamlined to fit their business processes. They needed a website that makes it easy for their website visitors to find the information they are looking for, and that reduces the amount of time Shadewood Farm employees spend responding to questions.
As part of this web design project, I created a custom website plan built specifically around their business goals. Their website strategy included:
- Organizing the website content better, to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for in each phase of their journey – from initial interest all the way to post-purchase
- Streamlining and automating their customer processes to save them time and also for a better customer experience
- Clarifying (and drawing attention to) the process that customers need to follow in order to get a new puppy
- Answering frequently asked questions, to cut down on the number of questions they were receiving through phone calls and emails
- Highlighting what makes their business different, to attract their ideal customers (and weed out the ones that are not a good fit)
- Creating web page templates that can be re-used for their dogs and for new litters
- Improvement with their SEO (search engine optimization)

Notes from Kelly:
This was such a rewarding project to work on. Shadewood Farm came to me with a business that was already thriving, but a website that wasn’t keeping up with everything they’d built. I loved getting to dig into the details of how their customers go through the process of adopting a puppy, and then turning that into a website that finally works as hard as they do.
Harriet gave me a lot of trust and creative discretion throughout the project, which made it a smooth collaboration. It’s a great example of what’s possible when strategy and design come together, and I’m proud of the website we built together.
What my Client Says:
“Working with Kelly was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our old website was outdated and no longer reflected our business, and she made the entire redesign process feel easy and well-organized.
She clearly outlined each step, communicated well throughout, and struck a great balance between technical functionality and beautiful design. I felt completely comfortable trusting her expertise, and the final result exceeded my expectations.
What I appreciate most is knowing I can rely on her for ongoing updates and improvements. She consistently does great work and keeps me informed of anything that needs attention. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional, dependable, and talented web designer.”
